Hera

Hera – Goddess of marriage

Known from greek mythology as the queen of the gods, and jealous wife of Zeus.

Here, we meet Hera as a young newlywed. Until this moment, her world was perfect and untainted, trusting of her beloved and preparing to build a blissful life together.  Now, she has been pricked for the first time by the yellow rose of infidelity, creating a deep red cut where her wedding band should be. As her blood falls onto their idyllic home, she stands alone, furious and heartbroken. Realizing her beloved has betrayed her, we see her darken with pride and humiliation. Her pride is embodied in the sacred peacock who sits atop her shoulder.

We witness the moment of her transformation from a full-hearted young woman into the ruthless queen we know, eternal punisher of unfaithful men and their lovers.
